BattleBorn Fight Team

On July 12, 2008, our very own Richard Montoya, father and founder of BattleBorn Fight Team, is schedule to fight in Rebel Fighter’s event, “Night of a Champion.” Montoya is definitely looking forward to a win at the Placerville, CA event.

With a record of 6-4-0, he is looking for another win. “Sixty percent of the time, I win every time,” said Montoya, poking fun at his record. “But I’m working and training hard for this fight. 7-4-0 is a hell of a lot better than 6-5-0.”

He is scheduled to fight Alijah Reni, an MMA fighter with a record of 3-1-0 out of North Highlands, CA.

On Sunday, June 1, WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber will take on former UFC champ Jens Pulver at the Acro Arena in Sacramento, CA.

Versus, the home for World Extreme Cagefighting, will be televising this event- the biggest WEC event to date!

Never Back Down is a movie about MMA, but it deals mostly with high school kids and their trials and tribulations yada yada yada.  We don’t know any high school kids driving Escalades with 22’s, but ain’t no big thing.

We were able to hand out flyers that promote our gym and got to meet a lot of people too.  If you got a flyer and are just now checking us out, have a look around the site.

But to really get to know us, come by our gym. We train MWF at 6pm and on Saturday mornings at 10am. Bring a cup and a mouthpiece and be ready to get down.

Here are the results for UFC 82. The winner of the BattleBorn Fight Team t-shirt is none other than Meghan, who said she was making an “uneducated guess” for her picks.

Dan Henderson vs. Anderson Silva

Good back and forth battle, but the champion proved his worth with the second round tap out.

Winner: Anderson Silva by rear naked choke in second round.

Chiek Kongo vs. Heath Herring

Very odd turn of events with the “better striker” (Kongo) displaying take-down skills instead of defense. But only to come up short - with the split decision loss to Herring.

Winner: Heath Herring by split decision.

Chris Leben vs. Alessio Sakara

A fast-paced fist-swinging first round ends with a knock-out by The Crippler.

Winner: Chris Leben by first round knockout.

Evan Tanner vs. Yushin Okami

Tanner looked cautious and was eating a lot of strikes while trying to get a takedown. Okami’s game plan paid dividends with a clinch knee knockout.

Winner: Yushin Okami by knockout in second round.

Jon Fitch vs. Chris Wilson

Fitch simply outworked a slick-striking Wilson. Round one was close, but two and three clearly belonged to Fitch, giving him the unanimous decision win over Wilson.

Winner: Diego Sanchez by ground and pound in first round.
